We’ve done it! 934 miles, 3 countries, 18 counties, 2 punctures, 1 broken derailleur and 6 tired legs later and we are there. Showers then the pub!

As I write this I am surrounded by two ladies engrossed in Mills and Boon novels! Full of supper and sinking a couple of beers it is with high spirits we approach our final day. Yes, it really is our final day tomorrow! 55 miles left, I can barely believe that by mid afternoon tomorrow we will have cycled from one end of the country to the other, I’m not sure the enormity of it has sunk in, but it is there, just around the corner, waiting for us. A quick glance out of the window this morning saw yesterday’s baking sunshine had once again turned to rain. After a bit of over enthusiastic breakfast eating (what man can turn down a stack of pancakes and syrup) we left the B&B owner who wanted to be the centre of attention to the mercy of his other guests and hit the A9. Leaving Perth the mood was muted, we were in a bit of a funk. We started off the day along the busy and fast A9, in pretty grey weather, which did little to improve our moods. We knew there was a cycle path at some point but weren’t sure if we would pick it up before Pitlochry, 20 miles down the road, but low and behold, 5 miles in, National Cycle Network 77 appeared, swept us off the dual carriage way and into the rural Scotland we had been looking forward to. A long 72 miles today, albeit reasonably flat, and in good weather. Cycling really wasn’t helped by some dreadful Scottish road conditions. They were very rough with poor Tarmac littered with pot holes long stretches of our journey. It made it quiet had on the hands.

Crossed the Forth Road Bridge, looking over the amazing rail bridge, sadly forced onto the western side due to engineering. A beautiful day for cycling despite some comedy routes through Edinburgh!
